The story so far…

VOLUME I – THE ROYAL NOTHINGS:

Tired of being a puppet prince, Remy turned in the crown for a watchman’s sword.

Tired of being a protected princess, Marsea turned in her petticoats for an assassin’s cloak.

Tired of…well, just about everyone and everything in his footpath, Aiden, the best blood-mage of his graduating class, turns in his laurels for another bottle of the black.

These royal nothings think they have escaped the worst, the past, only to find an even more horrific future awaits them when an ancient evil releases a blight of ghouls and darkness on their world. Can they, or anyone at all, survive?

VOLUME II – THEY ONCE HAD NAMES:

One lays dying, one just lost their beloved, and the third finds themselves lost amidst rogues and wretches.

Times have grown grim as the grave as the blight descends on Lancastle and House Lanier. But ghouls and lichlords are just the beginning of the horrors to come. As something far more sinister than the dead lurks beyond the devouring dark, but will the royal nothings survive long enough to stand and fight against it?

VOLUME III – EVEN THE FAVORED SUFFER:

A new age dawns, and with it, prophecy has come for the royal nothings. Though, for the Lanier siblings, their fated paths are anything but apparent. Even with the aid of a primordial being called the gift.

Tomes and tales taught them about the gift and how to tap into its wealth of forms, but, trust it true, there’s a world’s difference between merely finding the gift and learning how to tame and harness it. Will their union with a creature as chaotic as the gift prove their salvation or their undoing?

Hope dwindles as the horrors of the nether devour all sentient life in sight, but may yet lie within a set of grimoires forged during the Age of Dragons. However, with one of the last surviving members of House Lanier possessed by an evil entity bent on conquest and annihilation, will the royal nothings even survive each other long enough to collect the ancient texts and save what remains of their dying civilization?

VOLUME IV – UNTIL THE CROWS DELIGHT:

New alliances will be forged and several more broken as House Lanier find themselves in a desperate race to unearth a storied incantation that may be their only means to saving the moon of Vaelsyntheria from a legion of eldritch creatures that cannot be reasoned with.

And yet times grow darker still for the royal nothings and their thorny band of misfit rebels. For an ancient evil lurks beyond the surface horror of the demon lord Tetherow and its blighted horde, pulling ever-so-cautiously at the threads of fate, inching the Laniers toward their inevitable destinies.

Anything is possible, every head is on the table, as the laws of nature begin to fray out of their proper order hurtling toward the end of the giftborn age. Who will play the hero? Who the villain? Who will survive, if any at all?
